Life In The Bakersfield Soviet, California

Sunday, February 17, 2002

You may recall previous descriptions of Mr. Bukmop's problems after he broke up with a girlfriend who had been living in his house in Bakersfield, California. After she moved out she began stalking him with the help of the courts and police

Bukmop later married a woman from Belarus, a former part of the Soviet Union. The couple then moved into his house together only to have the former girlfriend continue stalking him.

The former girlfriend even went so far as to obtain an ex parte no-contact restraining order forbidding Mr. Bukmop and his new wife, Marina, seeing each other.

Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) then got in the act because she is an immigrant, Either Bukmop has to violate the restraining order or Marina has to leave the house, and the U.S.

Mr. Bukmop was a computer programmer but since he began being stalked he has been working as a paralegal at a law firm. That experience has helped him continue to challenge these outrageous actions by the courts and police with some success.

The details to this point can be found under Bakersfield, as compared to soviet methods.

However, when attacking a fortified position a counterattack can be expected. That happened last week as Mr. Bukmop describes:

Subject: Search Warrants

Date: Friday, 15 February 2002 22:21:01 -0800

Dear Dr. Corry,

I finally have a computer to work on again, but just temporarily.

The stalker and her attorney/boyfriend reported to the police that I was sending harassing e-mails. Since I didn't do it, there is no proof, but that didn't stop the police from getting search warrants and again robbing me. The warrants were served on my house and at the law firm I work for.

They took everything concerning my case "because it shows motive," they took all of my computer equipment as well as the office computers. Anything and everything was subject to seizure since the warrant allowed anything with a possible password on it to be seized. They took personal letters between me and my wife, my wife's Russian dictionaries, pictures of friends and family, bills, mail, poems, books, and many other things. While I sat in cuffs, they stole several truckloads of my personal things. The search started around 7 in the morning with the last officer leaving after 10 at night. They expect to have my things for "months" while they look for evidence, but they won't say how many months. Since this is costing my company thousands of dollars (we're practically shut down), I assume that I will be terminated when it all ends. This will also leave me without an attorney. With no job, no attorney, and no computers, it appears I have no real hope of fighting. It looks like I cannot change the system, but the system can do with me as it pleases. When I get back on my feet, I will continue to help others fight the war, but it appears my battle is lost.
